Background & Role Overview
We are looking for a detail-oriented and proactive Finance Assistant to support our finance team in managing day-to-day financial operations. This role is essential in ensuring accuracy in financial transactions and contributing to the smooth functioning of our finance department.

Role Responsibilities
1. Assist in management of all accounting operations including AP/AR/GL cost accounting and revenue recognition
2. Accounts payable – raising quotes, orders and initial payment runs for approval
3. Monitoring, tracking expenditure by business project to ensure costs controlled and optimized
4. Processing and reconciling expenses ensuring all expenses appropriately supported by receipts and allocated to projects accurately
5. Reconciling bank accounts ensuring all transactions appropriately supported by VAT receipts and allocated to projects
6. Tracking sales invoices ensuring all accurately recorded in Xero by project
7. Assisting with payroll administration and monitoring of cost allocations
8. Establish and manage month end and year end close process
9. Ensure quality control over financial transactions and financial reporting
10. Liaise with internal and external stakeholders, including bookkeeper and suppliers
11. Ensure compliance with HMRC regulations and company policies
12. Provide input and support creation of business process documentation and internal controls
13. Provide administrative support to the finance team as required
Requirements
Essential
* Accounting certification or progression towards (AAT, CIMA or equivalent)
* Prior experience in a finance or accounting role
* Strong numerical and analytical skills, high attention to detail and accuracy
* Discretion honesty and integrity
* Proficiency in Xero accounting software and Microsoft Excel
* Excellent communication and organisational skills to facilitate cross function and cross project collaboration to improve financial literacy within the company
* Ability to work independently and within a team
* Knowledge of UK financial regulations and best practices
Desirable
* Degree in finance, accounting or related field
* Experience in professional services sector
