The Team
The Commercial Operations Lead is a high-impact leader responsible for driving the financial performance and market reach of the Napp portfolio by directing a cross-functional team across UK and export markets. This role oversees strategic relationships with Integrated Care Boards (ICBs), pharmacy chains, and tender authorities to maximize patient access and ensure operational excellence across the product lifecycle.
Role and Responsibilities
* Champion company values and cross-functional collaboration while serving as a high-energy mentor and leader for the Commercial Operations team.
* Oversee the full lifecycle of the team, from recruitment and performance management to long-term professional development.
* Strategic Market Access: Drive engagement and build strategic relationships across four key arenas: ICBs, Pharmacy Chains, Tender Authorities, and Export Markets.
* Design and execute the annual business plan and operational budget for the Established Brands portfolio, ensuring alignment with global strategy.
* Revenue & Growth - Take accountability for meeting revenue goals and successfully executing new product launches and supply opportunities.
* Monitor financial results and variances to implement mitigation plans, managing expenses to deliver targeted profit margins.
* Lead high-stakes negotiations and define commercial terms with a wide array of stakeholders, from commissioners to wholesalers.
* Manage UK engagement with global pricing governance and maintain auditable, compliant systems for rebate and discount tracking.
* Operational Oversight - Ensure robust supply chain management and implement clear performance metrics to drive operational focus.
* Serve as a key member of the Commercial Management Team, influencing organizational design and high-level commercial decision-making.
What you'll bring
* An undergraduate degree in Science, Pharmacy, or Business/Finance (Postgraduate degree preferred).
* Strong Commercial background in the Pharmaceutical industry.
* A clear track record of managing "Established Brand" portfolios, delivering revenue growth, and executing successful new product launches.
* Previous interface with Wholesalers and Pharmacy chains and be used to working with brands/products in the retailer Pharmacy space.
* Previous experience as a Chief Pharmacist, NHS England Commissioner and/or Pharmacy Chain Buyer considered a distinct advantage.
* Extensive experience in leading high-performing teams, motivating staff, and operating credibly at a senior management level with international stakeholders.
* Advanced Financial Acumen with full P&L accountability, including budget management, ROI analysis, and implementing corrective actions to optimize profitability.
* NHS & HSE Expertise with deep understanding of UK/Ireland healthcare funding flows, pharmaceutical cost structures, and the future direction of the NHS environment.
* Skilled in setting annual business priorities, resource planning, and using performance metrics to ensure operational focus.
* Expert-level ability to negotiate commercial terms and manage relationships across pharmacies, hospitals, and tender authorities.
* Operational Governance - experience managing complex supply chain processes, including the accurate execution and auditing of rebates and discounts.
* Compliance & Market Knowledge - Working knowledge of the ABPI Code of Practice, parallel imports (the "grey market"), and competitor activity.
* A creative, results-driven thinker with the flexibility to adapt tactics to changing market conditions and find sustainable new opportunities.
