Join us as a Directorate Business Manager and play a pivotal role in driving high‑quality support, digital transformation, and innovation across our Economy & Infrastructure Directorate. In this role you will lead key support functions, governance, business planning and performance activity, and oversee projects that make a real difference to how we deliver services. This is a unique opportunity to work closely with senior leaders, influence change and play a central role in ensuring strong, effective directorate operations. What You’ll Be Responsible For: Lead and coordinate the Directorate’s leadership support function, ensuring high‑quality, efficient support for the Director and Assistant Directors. Strengthen and manage governance processes across the Directorate, including performance management, risk management, and assurance activities. Drive digital capability and adoption, leading the rollout and effective use of digital tools to enhance ways of working across the Directorate. Oversee the Directorate’s project management function, supporting the Director to deliver effective project planning, cross‑cutting improvements, and successful implementation of key initiatives. What You’ll Bring: We’re looking for someone who can demonstrate: A degree‑level qualification (or equivalent) in Business Management, Finance, Project Management, or a related field, or extensive relevant experience that demonstrates the knowledge required for this role. Experience working with boards, committees, or elected members, with confidence navigating complex governance environments. Expert knowledge and practical application of risk management principles. Strong planning, organisational, and project management experience, ideally across organisational boundaries. Proven experience in delivering change management and supporting teams through transition. A strong track record of leading digital change and enabling adoption of digital tools (such as Microsoft 365). Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence, engage, and build productive relationships with a wide range of stakeholders.
