Job Title

Senior Systems Analyst


Job Details

* Full Time – Fixed Term Contract (23 months)
* Location: High Wycombe Campus (some remote working, occasional travel)
* Salary: £38,784 – £43,482 per annum
* Hours: 37 hours per week
* Reporting to: Business Systems Manager


Responsibilities

* Provide first, second, and third-line support to users.
* Maintain system integrity, security and optimal performance.
* Support the ongoing development, configuration and maintenance of the InPlace system and related digital platforms.
* Deliver complex tasks and high‑profile projects with autonomy to achieve agreed business objectives.
* Analyse how software, hardware and digital technologies fit the university’s business needs.
* Document requirements for new systems and monitor their effectiveness.
* Run requirements gathering and solution design workshops.
* Evaluate enhancements to software and ensure alignment with business requirements.
* Provide second and third level support to staff, meeting Digital and Technical Services (DTS) SLA’s.
* Identify, define and analyse problems encountered by end users and apply knowledge to derive solutions.
* Lead, plan, test and implement system enhancements and new interfaces.
* Coordinate data gathering, cleansing and validation for system enhancements.
* Prepare, coordinate, manage and deliver Unit Testing, Integrated System Testing (IST) and User Acceptance Testing (UAT).
* Prepare system design, policy, procedure and process documentation.
* Assist in developing training materials and deliver end‑user training.
* Support the Business Systems Manager in running and managing user groups.
* Ensure secure management of all information in accordance with BNU policies and legislation.
* Comply with all relevant legislative and regulatory requirements (Data Protection, GDPR, Health and Safety, UKVI, Equality and Diversity).

Education, Qualifications & Training

* Degree in a relevant subject (A).
* IT systems related qualification (A).
* Qualification in project methodology (e.g. Prince2, MSP, Agile) (A).


Knowledge & Experience

* Delivering an excellent customer experience (A/I).
* Experience and knowledge of business processes (preferably in Higher Education) (A/I).
* Experience of managing projects through the full project life cycle, including resolution of complex issues (A/I).
* Experience of systems analysis and business analysis (A/I).
* Exposure to the full development lifecycle of an IT solution (A/I).
* Understanding of complex enterprise‑level data, application and technology architectures (e.g. ERP, Student Management Systems) (A/I).


Skills

* Digitally capable and proficient in Microsoft tools (A/I).
* Highly developed analytical skills (A/I).
* Ability to work effectively as part of a team and with other colleagues (A/I).
* Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, to engage a wide range of customers and stakeholders (A/I).
* Ability to meet strict deadlines and performance targets whilst maintaining accuracy (A/I).
* Ability to convert user requests into system processes and reporting (A/I).
