Director of Human Resources (On-Property) – Luxury Resort, Antigua
This role presents a unique opportunity for a dynamic Human Resources leader passionate about luxury hospitality and committed to building a high-performing, engaged workforce in one of the Caribbean’s most desirable destinations.
We are seeking an accomplished and strategic Director of Human Resources to lead the Human Resources function for a premier luxury resort in Antigua. Reporting directly to the General Manager, the Director of Human Resources will serve as a key member of the Executive Committee, driving a high-performance culture aligned with luxury hospitality standards and organizational objectives.
The ideal candidate will bring extensive Caribbean experience within internationally recognized luxury hotel groups, with demonstrated expertise in talent acquisition and retention, leadership development, employee engagement, succession planning, and full compliance with local labor legislation and HR best practices.
Qualifications & Experience:
* Degree and/or Professional Diploma in Human Resources Management or related field.
* Membership in an internationally recognized professional organization such as: Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM), or Chartered Institute of Personnel & Development (CIPD).
* Minimum of 8–10 years progressive HR leadership experience within luxury international hotel groups.
* Extensive working experience in the Caribbean hospitality sector is required.
* Strong working knowledge of Antiguan labor laws and Caribbean employment legislation.
Demonstrated expertise in:
* Talent acquisition and employer branding.
* Leadership development and succession planning.
* Employee engagement and retention strategies.
* Labor relations and compliance management.
* Proven ability to operate at Executive Committee level.
* Second language proficiency (minimum conversational level) is an asset.
* Strong business acumen, emotional intelligence, and leadership presence.
Key Responsibilities:
* Develop and execute the resort’s Human Resources strategy in alignment with business objectives and brand standards.
* Serve as a trusted advisor to the General Manager and Executive Committee on all people-related matters.
* Champion a culture of excellence, accountability, engagement, and continuous improvement.
* Design and implement innovative recruitment strategies to attract top-tier hospitality talent locally, regionally, and internationally.
* Lead workforce planning initiatives to ensure appropriate staffing levels and succession pipelines.
* Oversee onboarding programs to ensure seamless integration and brand immersion.
* Partner with department heads to create personalized development plans.
* Develop and implement retention strategies tailored to the Caribbean hospitality environment.
* Lead employee engagement initiatives, culture-building activities, and recognition programs.
* Ensure full compliance with Antiguan labor laws, employment legislation, and industry regulations.
* Provide expert guidance on disciplinary procedures, grievance handling, investigations, and conflict resolution.
* Maintain strong relationships with government agencies and labor authorities.
* Oversee policy development and ensure all HR policies and procedures are current and legally compliant.
* Oversee compensation structures to ensure competitiveness within the luxury hospitality market.
* Manage benefits administration in line with local statutory requirements and company standards.
* Conduct periodic salary benchmarking and workforce cost analysis.
* Ensure accurate HR reporting, documentation, and record-keeping.
* Develop and maintain standardized HR policies, procedures, and employee handbooks.
* Lead audits and ensure adherence to international brand standards and corporate governance.
Salary: US$95,000 per annum, plus company benefits including housing, medical and other allowances.
