Family Contact Worker
- Location: Trafford (with travel to Stockport, Bolton, Oldham, Chester, and Merseyside)
- Job Type: Full-time
- Salary: £14.66 per hour
- Directly Responsible To: Contact Centre Manager
- Hours: 09:30 - 17:30
We are seeking a dedicated Family Contact Worker to join our Family Support Services team. This role involves supervising contact sessions between vulnerable children and young people and their families, ensuring their safety and wellbeing. The position requires travel within and occasionally outside the borough, providing a dynamic work environment.
Day-to-Day of the Role:
- Supervise contact sessions at the Contact Centre in Trafford, in the community, and occasionally outside the borough.
- Carry a caseload of vulnerable children and young people, prioritising safeguarding at all times.
- Plan and coordinate contact activities, ensuring appropriate risk assessments are in place.
- Supervise and record final contact sessions when adoption is part of the child’s plan.
- Attend court to provide evidence regarding the nature of contact sessions and relationships observed.
- Collaborate with other agencies and professionals, contributing to parenting assessments.
- Maintain high standards of professionalism with parents, addressing a range of issues affecting their parenting capabilities.
- Manage detailed manual and electronic records in accordance with policy, ensuring data integrity and confidentiality.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- NVQ Level 3 or equivalent qualification.
- Minimum of 1 year’s experience in a relevant environment, preferably within children's services.
- Strong understanding of children’s developmental needs and attachment theories.
- Proficient in using electronic data systems and maintaining accurate records.
- Excellent communication skills, capable of dealing with a wide range of audiences.
- Ability to work flexibly and collaboratively in a multi-disciplinary environment.
