We are seeking an Associate Director (Project Management) to join our Birmingham office. This is a rare opportunity to work on signature developments while contributing to the growth and direction of our growing and innovative business. You'll also have the chance to mentor junior team members, support business development efforts, and help shape the future of our Midlands presence.
We are currently partnering with several exciting clients, including large-scale, prime high-rise residential projects in the city centre. In addition to our signature projects, we work on a diverse portfolio of projects within the region spanning multiple sectors of the built environment.
As Associate Director, we would expect you to utilise your skills and experience on our largest and most complex projects and with signature clients. We are seeking a well-rounded professional with strong technical skills, commercial awareness, and excellent people management abilities who can manage client relationships, deliver high-quality outcomes, and contribute to business development initiatives.

Key tasks and responsibilities
* Work as part of a team of Quantity Surveyors and Project Managers while reporting to the Project Director and working closely with the Executive Director.
* Ensure our client(s) achieve their objectives through close teamwork, proactive risk and programme controls, and provision of contractual advice.
* Prepare full tender documentation for consultant or contractor appointments in line with TSA Riley requirements and present to the client for review.
* Administer the tender processes for consultant and contractor appointments.
* Provide/advice on contractors, specialists, procurement routes, cost and programme solutions, and present to the client.
* Act as an Employers Agent on behalf of our clients.
* Administer/manage cost/variation procedures under the relevant Appointment or Contract.
* Attend and/or chair meetings in line with appointment provisions.
* Prepare financial and progress reports for the client with their data requirements.
* Instigate value engineering and standardisation processes to optimise efficiency for TSA Riley and the client.
* Propose innovative initiatives on service delivery for TSA Riley management consideration.
* Prepare development and delivery programmes in Microsoft Project, ensuring key deliverable objectives are understood and reported.
* Take an active role in mentoring and supporting the development of junior staff within the Birmingham office.
Qualifications and experience
* A relevant degree or master's qualification in construction project management or a similar subject.
* Membership of a reputable professional body such as RICS or CIOB or equivalent is desirable.
* Ability to autonomously perform a full range of pre- and post-contract duties from conception through to final accounting.
* Strong client-facing and stakeholder engagement skills; demonstrated experience leading project management, supporting clients, and delivering high-quality outcomes.
* Excellent people management skills with experience managing small teams and developing junior staff.
* Strong commercial acumen and ability to contribute to strategic growth decisions and revenue growth for a business unit.
* Proven experience on large-scale construction projects within the built environment.
* Experience with large-scale, high-rise residential projects and the build-to-rent sector is desirable; experience on comparable large-scale projects in similar sectors is welcome.
* Familiarity with common contract forms (e.g., JCT, NEC) and strong contract administration skills.
* Strong IT skills and proficiency with common software packages; openness to new technologies and innovation.
