Overview
gtd healthcare is one of the largest, not-for-profit, NHS commissioned primary and urgent care providers in North West England. We are looking for an experienced Paediatric Advanced Clinical Practitioner (ACP) to join our clinical team on a part-time basis.
We are a values-driven, not-for-profit provider of innovative healthcare across North-West England. Led by a clinical Board, we have been providing excellent care to patients for more than 20 years, reinvesting surpluses generated back into our services. We provide paediatric services including primary care clinics, out-of-hours clinics from 111 calls, and a winter resilience respiratory hub. We aim to broaden our services and build a team of ACPs confident in paediatric care.
Responsibilities
* Assess, diagnose and prescribe where appropriate within your professional boundaries.
* Provide advice, care and management for urgent and/or primary care patients via telephone, video or face-to-face consultations.
* Act as a positive role model, support junior staff, and work flexibly between urgent care and primary care to deliver safe, clinical and expert care.
* Demonstrate clinical reasoning and critical thinking; support the wider healthcare team to meet patient needs.
* Work within the four pillars of practice and hold appropriate qualifications (MSc in Advanced Clinical Practice or credentialing; Non-Medical Prescribing).
Clinical Practice Areas
* Assess and examine patients with minor and complex needs; use investigations to confirm diagnosis.
* Plan, implement and evaluate management plans; ensure safe discharge/referral and transfer as needed.
* Provide information on medications, side-effects and interactions.
* Prioritise health problems; manage complex, urgent or emergency situations, including initiation of emergency care.
* Refer and discharge safely with appropriate safety-netting advice.
* Triage telephone referrals and external queries into appropriate services.
* Provide expert clinical advice and maintain high levels of clinical competence as directed by the Clinical Service Lead.
Communication
* Use sensitive communication to ensure informed consent and understanding; adapt to different communication needs and backgrounds.
* Maintain effective internal and external communication; provide information in accessible formats and refer where appropriate.
Non-Medical Prescribing
* Prescribe within scope and in line with NMP governance and local guidelines.
* Maintain knowledge and skills; comply with organisational prescribing processes.
Quality Service Delivery
* Work within competence and professional codes of conduct; maintain accurate records in line with legislation.
* Manage workload to maintain quality; ensure ongoing professional revalidation.
* Deliver care in accordance with NSF, NICE guidelines and evidence-based practice; participate in quality governance and improvement initiatives.
* Collaborate with clinical teams to enhance care quality and support learning across the organisation.
Leadership, Personal and People Development
* Lead on shift, ensure patient flow and safety; mentor trainees where appropriate.
* Promote a learning environment; support colleagues in developing knowledge and skills.
* Contribute to local guidelines, protocols and standards; communicate with commissioning and procurement leads as appropriate.
Corporate Responsibility
* Be an effective team member; delegate responsibly and manage time effectively.
* Work with others to define values, direction and policy impact on care delivery; identify opportunities to improve patient care.
Risk, Information, and Learning
* Manage risk within areas of responsibility; ensure safety and compliance with health and safety legislation.
* Apply infection-control measures and use technology to plan, implement and monitor care; ensure accurate data for monitoring and audit.
* Undertake mentorship where appropriate and disseminate learning to the team.
Other Duties
* Any other duties as agreed with the line manager; travel to other sites may be required.
Qualifications
Essential
* Registered first level nurse, paramedic, pharmacist or other AHP with MSc Advanced Clinical Practice or credentialing qualification or equivalent.
* V300 Non-Medical Prescriber (gateway dependent).
Desirable
* Mentor/Teaching qualification; clinical supervision training and experience.
Experience
* Essential: Experience of working as an ACP in paediatrics; extensive senior clinical experience; accountability in a practitioner-led service.
* Desirable: Experience in supportive roles; unscheduled care; primary care.
Skills and Attributes
* Advanced clinical practice skills; confident in paediatric care; management of acute and complex cases.
* Clinical leadership, strong communication, negotiation and teamwork; motivated and flexible.
