Following the opening of the elective surgical hub at Solihull Hospital, the elective general surgery team is an exciting place to work. The role is full-time at Solihull Hospital covering a 7 day service. The service covers extended hours between 08:00 and 20:00, creating the opportunity to treat patients sooner after their surgery.
Responsibilities
* Collaborate with Physiotherapists, Occupational Therapists and fellow therapy support workers across inpatient and outpatient settings to support patients in rehabilitation and wellbeing.
* Assess and treat patients following a variety of general elective surgeries, working alongside qualified therapists.
* Contribute to prehabilitation by delivering pre-operative education and exercises classes; involved in the launch of the prehabilitation service if appointed.
* Work flexibly across other Solihull teams to support patient flow across the site.
* Support patients recovering from surgery, including working in acute surgical settings and assisting with personal care as needed.
* Support qualified therapists with administrative tasks, including booking patient appointments, liaising with patients and relatives by phone, and assisting with data collection.
* Multitask effectively in a busy environment while maintaining a caring and helpful attitude toward the team and patients.

* Excellent communication and organisational skills.
* Ability to make judgments unaided and work proactively to solve problems
* Ability to work on your own initiative and adapt to flexible working across teams.
