Job Title: Service Engineer
Area to be worked in: Cambridge/Bury St Edmunds, South East, England
We are looking for a Service Engineer to contribute to our Surgical Workplaces service team.
Getinge is a well-respected Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM), saving lives through the manufacture and maintenance of medical devices and solutions. Our Service Team is responsible for routine servicing, testing, and repairing of our equipment in hospitals and facilities throughout the UK and Ireland.
You will have the opportunity to make a difference by utilizing your technical knowledge and skills to ensure the smooth operation of our machines in the field, representing the business and building relationships with customers and colleagues to deliver the best possible service.
This is a field-based role requiring a self-starter with experience managing your workload. Although mostly independent, you will be supported by regular contact with the Service Office, Service Managers, and our Technical Services Department, which has direct access to Getinge manufacturing sites and extensive technical expertise.
The successful candidate will have a background and relevant qualifications in Mechanical or Electronic Engineering. Comprehensive training on Getinge’s equipment will be provided by our dedicated in-house training team. Through our Career Progression Pathway, all Engineers are assessed bi-annually against our bespoke Engineers’ competency-based banding structure, rewarding learning and development.
Day-to-day responsibilities will include:
1. Dealing with customers with first-class interpersonal skills in a courteous and professional manner
2. Carrying out routine testing and mechanical servicing of equipment
3. Problem solving with a practical and logical approach
4. Electrical/mechanical fault finding of equipment
5. Calibration and reporting faulty or out-of-calibration equipment
6. Maintaining stock levels of spare parts for timely responses
7. Producing quality service documentation
8. Maintaining communication with internal departments and managers
9. Following return and non-conformance procedures
10. Organizing and prioritizing a changing workload
11. Out of hours standby on a rota basis
12. Producing accurate reports as required
13. Providing validation reports within specified timeframes
14. Assisting team members as needed
15. Providing sales leads to relevant managers
16. Observing quality system duties and safety requirements

What you need:
* A recognized qualification in Electrical/Electronic/Mechanical Engineering (e.g., City & Guilds Levels 1 & 2 or equivalent)
* Experience in field-based work
* IT skills including Microsoft Office; experience with CRM systems like GForce is beneficial
* A strong work ethic and organizational skills
* A positive attitude and willingness to travel and work away from home
* Flexibility and adaptability under pressure
* Excellent communication skills and customer service orientation
