Accounts Assistant
* Annual Salary: £28,000 - £30,000
* Location: Braintree
* Job Type: Full-time office based
* 9-month FTC (Maternity Cover)
We are currently representing a distinguished family business that specialises in importing, sourcing, and packing a variety of food products such as fruit, cereals, and pulses for both retail and wholesale markets. We are seeking an Accounts Assistant to become a key member of their small, friendly team. This role offers a diverse range of responsibilities and the opportunity for a comprehensive training period.
Day-to-day of the role:
* Monitor and record daily cash movements, including reconciliation of Invoice Finance accounts.
* Create and dispatch sales invoices, credit notes, and debit notes; maintain the sales ledger.
* Manage daily credit control, actively chasing due debts.
* Handle the daily purchase ledger—posting invoices, organizing weekly payments, and reconciling supplier accounts.
* Assist with the management of overseas container documents and processing through the Trade Finance banking system.
* Support daily stock production input into Sage 200 and address any related queries or errors.
* Prepare commercial invoices and packing lists for overseas deliveries.
* Manage petty cash claims and perform monthly credit card statement expense analysis.
* Report to the accountant at quarter-end regarding any accruals or unposted invoices or charges.
* Participate in quarterly stock takes, supporting both the warehouse and accounts teams.
* Produce detailed stock balance and traceability reports for both audit and internal use.
* Investigate queries and manage the issuance of credit notes.
* Maintain comprehensive accounts filing.
* Provide administrative support during team absences.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
* Proven experience in an account's assistant role or similar capacity.
* Proficiency with accounting software, particularly Sage 200.
* Strong organizational and time management skills.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
* Capability to work both independently and as part of a team.
* Keen attention to detail with strong problem-solving skills.
