Health & Safety Advisor - Hampshire - Permanent - £45,000 per year plus benefits
Synergize Consulting are now hiring for a Health & Safety Advisor to work at a leading defence client on a permanent basis.
The successful candidate will provide specialist guidance as to safety, health and environments as part of a team based at a large engineering site. This role will involve working at a manufacturing site and requires the candidate to enter industrial environments, sometimes at height.
Responsibilities include:
- Providing professional and accurate H&S advice on the requirements of related legislation and compliance with company procedures across defence programmes. - Conducting H&S audits, inspections in accordance with internal procedures and ISO 45001 / ISO 14001 requirements, to agreed and communicated schedules. - Investigating H&S accidents, incidents and non-conformances, producing comprehensive reports with root cause analysis in line with procedural requirements within agreed timescales. - Participating in and supporting wider H&S activities, e.g. on call rota, public events, promotional events - Supporting the occupational health department as appropriate with focus on early intervention and rehabilitation of injured parties
Experience required:
- A background in H&S roles, ideally working in a specialist, consultant, lead or managerial position. - Strong knowledge of H&S legislation, and the ability to advise teams as to potential issues and hazards onsite. - Strong auditing skills and the ability to produce detailed reports and analysis. - Previous experience of working on an industrial or engineering site would be desirable, for example having provided H&S advice in relation to confined spaces, or working at height - Knowledge and/or experience of working within highly regulated industries - Working knowledge of, or adherence to, ISO 45001 safety standards - Ideally candidates will hold, or be willing to work towards, a NEBOSH diploma. - Excellent communication skills, and the ability to engage with audiences and stakeholders - Due to the nature of the client, it would be an advantage for candidates to hold, or be eligible and willing to undergo, a certain level of security clearance (SC).
