Overview
The successful post holder will join a forward‑thinking, motivated and experienced Community Mental Health Team (CMHT) in Llandrindod Wells, Radnorshire, Powys. The acute service in this rural area is undergoing positive change, actively shaping services at present. The role will be varied and interesting, and will allow flexibility to develop a special interest. Your work will be highly appreciated by the staff and the local community.
Responsibilities
* Provide community mental health services across a rural catchment area of approximately 29,000 residents covering Knighton, Presteigne, Rhayader, Llandrindod Wells, and Builth Wells.
* Collaborate with Powys Teaching Health Board, Powys County Council, GPs, the voluntary sector, users and carers to plan and deliver a range of mental health, learning disability and substance misuse services.
* Engage with both community and acute inpatient settings, including memory assessment and crisis services.
* Participate in inpatient services at Tawe in Ystradgynlais Community Hospital and Clywedog in Llandrindod Community Hospital, supporting mixed‑gender wards with local community medicine teams.
* Work with multidisciplinary teams providing holistic recovery‑focused care, supported by Specialist Doctors for medical input.
* Collaborate with the regional OAMH services within five areas: Ystradgynlais, Breconshire, Radnorshire, Newtown and Welshpool.
Qualifications
* Preferable background in both community (including memory assessment and crisis services) and acute inpatient work.
* Excellent knowledge of assessment and treatment of organic and functional older adult mental states.
* Desirable to be able to speak Welsh; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome.
