Hays are working with a large, well‑established not‑for‑profit organisation in the Edinburgh area who are seeking an experienced Interim Financial Accountant to support its finance function during a key operational period. This hybrid opportunity offers a balance of office collaboration and flexible home working.
The Role
As Interim Financial Accountant, you will be responsible for delivering accurate and timely financial reports, supporting both day‑to‑day finance operations and wider organisational objectives. You’ll work closely with senior leadership and operational teams to ensure financial stability and informed decision‑making during a period of change.
Key Responsibilities
1. Prepare monthly and quarterly management accounts.
2. Support year‑end processes, including audit preparation and liaison with external auditors.
3. Produce accurate financial statements, reconciliations, and variance analysis.
4. Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and ongoing cash‑flow management.
5. Maintain and enhance internal financial controls andpliance frameworks.
6. Partner with non‑finance stakeholders to interpret financial performance and providemercial insight.
7. Identify and implement improvements to financial processes and reporting.

Skills & Experience
10. Solid technical accounting experience in a Financial Accountant or similar role
11. Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills
12. Ability to work independently in a fast‑paced environment
13. Confidentmunicator who can build rapport across the organisation.
14. Strong attention to detail and a proactive approach to improvement

15. Day Rate: Up to £250 per day
