SEN Teaching Assistant Year 1 - Birkenhead
Teaching Personnel have been approached by a School within the Birkenhead for a Year 1 Teaching Assistant to work on a 1:1 basis with a child with SEN.
The role:
The role is working one to one with a child with a diagnosis of autism. This child is currently being supported outside of the classroom; It will be a requirement for the successful candidate to become familiar with existing support plans which are set out to facilitate the integration of the child back into the classroom throughout autumn term.
This is a full-time role from Monday to Friday, due to commence in February 2026. The hours are 8:45am-3:15am. The suitable candidate will be working closely with the school’s SENCO to ensure the child is sufficiently supported and that all information is shared accordingly. It is therefore important that the candidate works effectively alongside the SENCO and the child’s parents to implement the best possible support.
The rates of pay are very competitive with an hourly rate of £13.75 - £14.50.
The candidate:
SEN experience would be desirable, with evidence of previously de-escalating challenging behaviour. The successful candidate must have the willingness to learn new skills via the schools CPD program. The candidate must have an adaptable approach to supporting the child that they will be working with on a 1:1 basis. Open mindedness, supportiveness and understanding of Special Educational Needs is preferred.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
