Hours: 25 hours per week (Monday to Friday, 9:30 am - 3:00 pm)
Contract: Temporary, with potential for extension or ongoing employment
Salary: Exceeds National Minimum Wage

We are currently recruiting on behalf of a charitable organisation for a passionate and experienced Part-Time Chef to support the running of a welcoming, community-focused café. This role is perfect for someone who enjoys preparing wholesome meals, mentoring others in the kitchen, and contributing to a greater social cause.
The café serves as a local hub, providing nutritious meals and opportunities for skill development, social inclusion, and training. This is more than just a cooking role its a chance to make a meaningful difference through food.
Key Responsibilities
* Prepare and cook fresh, healthy meals using seasonal and surplus ingredients
* Develop daily specials in collaboration with the Café Manager
* Ensure high standards of food hygiene and kitchen health & safety compliance
* Support and supervise volunteers, trainees or community learners in the kitchen
* Manage stock levels and support efficient use of donated food items
* Maintain a friendly, inclusive atmosphere for all café visitors and team members
* Contribute to occasional catering or community food events as required
Candidate Requirements
Essential:
* Experience as a chef, cook, or in a similar food preparation role
* Passion for healthy, sustainable and community-led cooking
* Understanding of food hygiene and Level 2 Food Safety Certificate (or willingness to obtain)
* Strong teamwork, independence, and empathy when working with vulnerable groups
Desirable:
* Experience working in community cafés, charities, or social enterprises
* Previous mentoring of kitchen trainees or volunteers
* Understanding of cost-effective food planning and minimising food waste
