We are seeking a detail-oriented and efficient Payroll Manager to join our growing team. In this role, you will oversee the end-to-end payroll operations for both our internal staff and contractor workforce. You'll manage a team of Payroll Administrators, ensuring accurate and timely processing of multiple payroll cycles across international markets.
What will you do?
Leadership & Team Management
* Manage and mentor a team of Payroll Administrators, providing ongoing training, guidance, and performance management
* Drive team efficiency and foster a culture of accountability, accuracy, and service excellence
* Act as a point of escalation for payroll queries or issues within the team
Internal Payroll
* Oversee the processing of internal employee payroll, ensuring compliance with UK legislation and company policies
* Liaise with HR admin and Finance to ensure accurate data capture for new starters, leavers, bonuses, benefits, pensions, and statutory payments
* Reconcile payroll reports and ensure timely submission of PAYE, pensions, and other statutory returns
Contractor Payroll
* Oversee the contractor payroll process managed by the team, ensuring accuracy across multiple international jurisdictions
* Ensure timely payment to contractors and accurate generation of remittances, timesheet processing, and margin reporting
* Ensure compliance with IR35 and international payroll legislation as relevant
* Collaborate with recruitment teams to resolve contractor queries and maintain a high level of service
Systems & Compliance
* Maintain and enhance payroll systems and processes, identifying opportunities for automation and efficiency
* Ensure all payroll processes comply with internal controls, audit requirements, and GDPR regulations
* Partner with Finance, HR on audits, system upgrades, and legislative changes
What are we looking for?
* Proven experience in a payroll role, ideally with exposure to both internal and contractor payrolls
* Strong leadership or supervisory experience in a payroll or finance team
* Thorough understanding of UK payroll legislation; knowledge of international payroll regulations is a plus
* Experience with payroll software (Xero ideally), and strong Excel skills
* High attention to detail and a commitment to confidentiality and data protection
* Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with a proactive and solution-focused approach
