Job Overview
We have an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic and motivated trainee physician (ST4 or above) with an interest in leadership and management to join the Division of Medicine at North Bristol NHS Trust as a Chief Registrar.
The Chief Registrar role provides higher specialty trainees with the opportunity to develop valuable skills in leadership and management, with 40% protected time to implement initiatives addressing local challenges. Chief Registrars impact service improvement, workforce transformation, engagement, morale, education, training, and patient outcomes.
The successful candidate will benefit from a flexible training model that helps develop a portfolio of skills for future consultant roles and leadership positions, establishing a profile as a future clinical leader.
Main duties of the job

The Chief Registrar will receive local support from Clinical Directors for Medicine, a General Manager, and an educational supervisor, as well as national support from the RCP leadership and management development programme starting August/September 2025, including travel expenses.
Applications Are Open To Trainee Physicians
* At ST4 or above (training scheme current or outside considered)
* Full-time or part-time
* Competent to work on the medical registrar rota
* Full GMC registration
This is a fixed-term role for a minimum of 12 months, within core medical specialties related to the applicant's training. Salary: £51,017.00. Closing date: 27th April 2025. Applications require prior discussion and approval from the educational supervisor and TPD.

Person Specification
Qualifications
* Essential: GMC registration, ST4 or above
* Desirable: Additional relevant degree
Clinical Skills
* Managing medical emergencies, clinical competencies, sound clinical judgement
* Desirable: Certifications in acute emergency management (ALERT, IMPACT, ALS)
Research
* Understanding research ethics, methodology, evidence-based practice
* Desirable: Involvement in research projects, publications
Leadership & Management
* Effective team working and leadership experience
* Desirable: Involvement in management systems and leadership roles
