A well-established and highly respected structural engineering consultancy is looking to appoint a Principal Structural Engineer for their central London office near Holborn. This is an excellent opportunity for a Chartered Engineer who enjoys autonomy, client interaction, and working on technically varied refurbishment projects across a broad range of sectors. The business has built a strong reputation for delivering practical, high-quality engineering solutions and maintains long-standing relationships with a number of blue-chip and repeat clients. The successful candidate will join a close-knit and collaborative team delivering predominantly refurbishment and survey-led projects across the retail, residential, commercial and industrial sectors. Typical project values are below £5m, offering the chance to work across numerous fast-paced schemes simultaneously while maintaining strong client relationships throughout the project lifecycle. This role would suit someone who enjoys being hands-on, leading projects independently, attending client meetings, carrying out surveys, producing detailed reports, and mentoring junior engineers where required. With a steady pipeline of work and a strong reputation in the market, this position offers genuine long-term progression and the opportunity to become a key figure within the business. Our client is seeking a Chartered Structural Engineer (MIStructE or MICE) who is confident operating autonomously and comfortable taking ownership of projects from inception through to completion. Strong communication skills, exceptional report writing ability, and a client-focused mindset are essential. Experience delivering refurbishment and survey projects within live environments would be highly advantageous. Strong background in surveys, defect diagnosis, and report writing. Excellent client-facing and communication skills. Ability to manage projects independently from inception to completion. Experience working across retail, residential, commercial and/or industrial sectors. Competent in structural analysis and design using industry-standard software. Ability to mentor and support junior engineers where required. Chartered status with ICE or IStructE. A strong academic background with a BEng or MEng in Civil or Structural Engineering
