About the Role
We’re seeking experienced Senior to Associate Electrical Design Engineers to join a reputable building services consultancy with a strong footprint in Plymouth. You’ll be working on technically challenging and sustainable projects across healthcare, education, commercial, and residential sectors, helping deliver innovative MEP designs with a focus on quality and client satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities
Lead and develop detailed electrical designs including power distribution, lighting, fire and life safety, and building management systems
Prepare and review complex calculations, specifications, single-line diagrams, and detailed CAD/Revit drawings
Manage and coordinate multi-disciplinary design teams to ensure integrated and efficient project delivery
Collaborate with clients, contractors, and internal stakeholders throughout all project stages
Provide technical leadership and mentoring to junior engineers, supporting their development and growth
Ensure all designs meet current UK standards and regulations, including BS 7671 and CIBSE guidelines
Drive sustainable design practices and incorporate low-carbon technologies into projects
Participate in design reviews, risk assessments, and quality assurance processes
Candidate Profile
Degree-qualified in Electrical Engineering, Building Services, or related discipline
Typically 5+ years’ experience in building services electrical design within consultancy or similar environments
Strong proficiency in AutoCAD and Revit (BIM)
Proven technical expertise in electrical system design and knowledge of UK electrical standards
Excellent leadership, communication, and project management skills
Passion for sustainable engineering and innovation
Chartered status (CEng, IEng) or working towards chartership is preferred
