Learning Support Assistant – Specialist SEN Setting Start Date: 8th September Location : Long Eaton, NG10 Daily Rate: £90 - £100 Per Day Contract Type: Temp-to-Perm Trial Days Available Before End of Term We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Learning Support Assistant to join our warm and welcoming specialist school community this September. The role is to start on the 8th of September, with the view to becoming a permanent member of the team following a successful initial period. Trial days are available prior to the end of this academic term for the right candidate, offering a great chance to experience the setting first-hand. About the Role As a Learning Support Assistant, you will be working closely with class teachers and the wider support team to deliver tailored support to students aged between 3 and 19 years. Pupils have a range of additional needs, including profound and multiple learning difficulties (PMLD), autism spectrum conditions (ASC), and communication and sensory needs. The position will involve both group work and 1:1 support, with a strong emphasis on building trust, encouraging independence, and creating a nurturing, structured environment. You’ll assist with learning activities, personal care where required, communication support (including use of PECS or Makaton), and contribute to the delivery of individualised learning plans. We’re Looking for Someone Who: Is patient, resilient, and genuinely passionate about supporting children with special educational needs. Has experience working in a school or care setting (though training and support will be provided). Is proactive, adaptable, and confident working as part of a multidisciplinary team. Is comfortable supporting pupils with complex medical or physical needs (training will be given if required). Has strong communication skills and a positive, encouraging attitude.
