Overview
We are seeking a skilled and motivated Archaeologist to join our growing team as a Project Officer. This is an exciting opportunity to support the delivery of archaeological fieldwork and post-excavation projects, contributing to Cura Terrae’s Land and Nature division and working across a diverse portfolio of projects.
As a Project Officer, you will take responsibility for day-to-day site operations, project delivery, production of site reports – grey lit and PXAs and client engagement, ensuring work is carried out to the highest professional standards and in line with company procedures. You will also play a key role in supporting the development of colleagues, liaising with stakeholders, and representing Cura Terrae.
Responsibilities
* Lead archaeological teams on site and ensure high-quality results in the field and through post-excavation.
* Manage day-to-day site operations and project delivery.
* Produce site reports (grey lit and PXAs) and engage with clients.
* Support development of colleagues and liaise with stakeholders; represent Cura Terrae.
Qualifications
* A university degree in Archaeology or a related discipline
* Membership of the Chartered Institute for Archaeologists (ACIfA or above, or working towards this)
* Strong experience in fieldwork and post-excavation, including report writing, assessment, and archiving
* Ability to independently prepare pre-commencement documents such as Project Designs (WSIs)
* Experience supervising small to large field teams and coordinating subcontractors
* Strong organisational skills with the ability to deliver projects to time, budget, and professional standards
* A full UK driving licence and willingness to transport teams to work sites
* Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to engage clients, stakeholders, and the public
