Are you keen to work with children and young people experiencing mental health challenges? Or do you want a change of clinical environment?

Within Children & Adolescent Mental Health Services in Buckinghamshire we are looking for motivated Occupational Therapists who are looking to work in a great team alongside other occupational therapists, nurses and social workers, all of whom are dedicated to improving services for young people. You may be a band 5 ready for the next step in their career, or an experienced band 6 OT who wants to gain exposure in a new area or working outside of the NHS. Either way, we have a career path ready for you.

You will join our Single Point of Access (SPA) team. This is a vital frontline service and the first point of contact for all new referrals and enquiries, including self-referrals and those from parents, carers, and professionals. You will play a key role in ensuring timely clinical triage and appropriate signposting to the right support at the right time.

Main duties of the job

* Triage new referrals, adhering to service protocols and referring clients to the appropriate service or back to the referral agent as necessary
* Deliver training to the wider children's workforce as required, ensuring that staff are equipped with the necessary skills and knowledge
* Provide consultative advice to parents, carers, and other professionals on appropriate steps to support children's mental health and emotional wellbeing
* Support service delivery, ensuring it meets national guidance and local key performance indicators
* Use communication skills to understand and address sensitive difficulties, develop tailored interventions, and work with external agencies to ensure the right intervention is offered

The ability to travel independently between sites within the Trust is essential for this role. Please note if you are based outside of the UK you will need to be fully qualified, have already passed your OSCE and have an NMC pin number or hold HCPC registration in order to be considered for this role.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

The role is based at the Sue Nicholls Centre in Aylesbury and following your induction period there is scope to work from home on a hybrid basis depending on the needs of the service. To aid with collaboration with external agencies you will get the work directly with MASH in their offices once per month.

Person specification

Qualifications

* Mental Health or equivalent professional health qualification e.g. OT, RMN NURSE, SOCIAL WORKER
* Leadership training

Experience

* Post qualification experience in a mental health setting, which includes working with young people with mental health needs.
* Experience of mentoring and clinical supervision of others
* Evidence of delivering mental state examination and risk assessment to inform pathways of care.
* Experience of working with children and young people who present with Neurodiversity.
* Experience of trauma informed approach to your work

Knowledge

* Evidence of continuing professional development
* Understanding of the legal and social policy issues influencing the work environment.
