Fencing+ - Summer - Farnham, Surrey

Hours of work: 08:30 – 17:00

Salary: £405.69 – £530.76 salary per week dependant on age, internal/external experience, andqualifications

(February Half Term Contracts to be issued on 2023 wage level. 2024 wage level effective from 1st April.)

Reportable to: Camp Senior Team, Area Manager and Central Office

FENCING+ DUTIES

* Set up and maintain your activity areas to ensure they are suitable and inviting for thechildren
* Follow policies and procedures to make sure the children in your care will have fun in a safeenvironment
* Deliver the fun-focused taster sessions in line with the Barracudas Fencing training received
* Use the Teambuilding manual to deliver a variety of exciting and safe sessions that are agerelevant
* Provide safety instructions and demonstrations of equipment and ensure these are adheredto
* Ensure that the needs of the children in your care are met with active supervision andattention throughout the day including breaks and lunch times
* Encourage maximum participation of the children in the group
* Work alongside other staff members who may come to assist with your sessions
* Accurate completion of paperwork relating to Fencing sessions on a daily and weekly basis
* Check the Fencing equipment efficiently and regularly
* Take responsibility for general welfare and safeguarding
* Maintain a tidy site and ensure all equipment is packed away
* Ensure the safe use of equipment provided for your sessions

REQUIREMENTS

* Undertake our FREE 1-day Fencing+ course which is British Fencing Affiliated – this will needto be completed prior to your employment start date
* Be aged 18 or over by the start date of your contract
* Be eligible to work in the UK
* Provide satisfactory professional/academic references
* Be enthusiastic, caring and organised with excellent communication skills and be able to useyour initiative
* Obtain an enhanced DBS check through Barracudas or have an existing enhanced DBS on theUpdate Service
* Attend a Virtual Assessment Event if you’re new to Barracudas (see staffroom for dates)
* Complete online training annually
* Attend Induction Training Day ahead of your first working season (this will most likely takeplace within the 7-day period before your camp opens)
* Assist with pack up at the end of camp

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES

* Ensure that the company fulfils all its Health and Safety obligations by carefully followinginstructions and showing a proactive and diligent approach to all safety issues
* Any activities that you organise and deliver must be appropriate for the children in your carewithin the scope of your qualifications, skills, and knowledge
* Encourage the children to take part in new activities and ensure the activity programme is asdirected on the timetable
* Ensure the children under your supervision behave in a safe manner. Always know thechildren’s whereabouts, respect them as individuals and communicate with them dailyabout codes of behaviour
* Carefully follow all camp systems, including registration and collection procedures, Healthand Safety systems and all guidelines on good practice in child welfare whilst supportingyour colleagues to do the same Be a positive role model to the children in your care by promoting a healthy lifestyle, goodhygiene precautions and always considering their welfare
* Report any concerns regarding Child Protection to your Senior Team or a Designated Personat the Central Office
* Make reasonable adjustments to accommodate and understand the requirements ofchildren in your group who may have additional needs (including dietary needs) or a medicalcondition
* Pending staff availability, you may be required to deliver Skills Builder sessions
* All staff may be required to support a swimming session – you’ll need to bring swimwear anda spare t-shirt will be available at camp
* The above is not an exhaustive list of duties and you will be expected to perform differenttasks as necessitated by your changing role within the organisation and the overall businessobjectives of the organisation
