About the Role
As a Fabricator / Welder (known internally as a Kiln Car Maintenance Operative) you will be working as part of the maintenance team, repairing and maintaining the equipment (kiln cars) which transport bricks in and out of our kilns and dryers. This role is a hands-on maintenance role, where you will become a specialist in your particular area.
We will provide you with full training and Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) to enable you to work safely and effectively. Duties include:
1. repairing the steelwork and main frame of the kiln cars
2. straighten kiln car decks and replacing damaged blocks
3. maintain minimum levels of refractory blocks
4. repair/grease kiln car axels and wheels
5. strip and rebuild kiln car refractories
6. record materials usage & maintain stock records
