Technical Accountant
The Technical Accountant will lead the Technical Accounting team, safeguarding the Trust's financial integrity and supporting high‑quality patient care.
Key responsibilities include:
* Capital programme oversight, fixed asset register maintenance and correct VAT treatment.
* Provision of statutory Annual Accounts and monthly financial information.
* Delivering a comprehensive capital accounting service and monitoring capital acquisitions plan.
* Ensuring accurate general ledger entries reflecting fixed assets and capital programme.
* Overseeing corporate tax administration, VAT, CIS and returns.
* Accounting for non‑cash working capital: provisions, stocks and related reporting.
* Leading a small dedicated team, setting objectives, coaching and ensuring high performance.
* Providing professional financial advice to colleagues and supporting audit engagements.
Additional duties:
* Support the Head of Financial Accounting in preparing annual accounts and financial information.
* Prepare 3‑year capital plans, monthly cash flow projections and capital charge estimates.
* Ensure correct IFRS 16 ROU asset accounting and lease expenditure recording.
* Lead capital committees, provide capital judgement, and propose policy changes.
* Coordinate stocktake returns, costing and NHS Resolution activities.
Qualifications & Experience
* CCAB qualified or equivalent to professional accountancy qualification level.
* Extensive experience in financial accounting and supervisory roles.
* In‑depth knowledge of IFRS, NHS financial guidance, capital accounting and technical standards (IFRS 16).
* Knowledge of HMRC VAT regulations, CIS, and contracted‑out services VAT recovery.
* Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Microsoft packages, and computerised finance systems.
