Overview
The Barista is responsible for the preparation and service of high-quality coffee beverages, ensuring consistent product standards and delivering excellent customer service. This role includes maintaining a clean and organised work environment and contributing to the smooth daily operation of the café.
Key Responsibilities
Coffee Preparation and Service:
* Prepare and serve a variety of coffee drinks, including espresso, latte, cappuccino, and iced beverages, in accordance with established recipes and customer preferences.
* Ensure quality and consistency in each beverage, paying close attention to flavour, presentation, and temperature.
* Operate coffee machines, grinders, and associated equipment safely and efficiently.
* Maintain cleanliness and orderliness of the workstation and equipment.
Customer Service:
* Provide courteous and professional service to all customers, maintaining a welcoming atmosphere.
* Accurately take customer orders and assist with product recommendations and special requests.
* Address customer enquiries and concerns promptly and courteously to ensure satisfaction.
Café Maintenance and Cleanliness:
* Maintain cleanliness of the café environment, including counters, seating areas, and restrooms, adhering to hygiene standards.
* Clean and maintain coffee-making equipment following company procedures.
* Monitor stock levels of coffee beans, milk, syrups, cups, and other supplies, replenishing as necessary.
Teamwork and Communication:
* Collaborate effectively with baristas, serving staff, and kitchen personnel to ensure smooth operations and timely service.
* Support colleagues during busy periods whilst maintaining composure and efficiency.
* Communicate clearly with team members and management regarding customer orders and operational matters.
Sales and Upselling:
* Promote menu items, daily specials, and additional products to customers to enhance sales and the customer experience.
* Process payments accurately and efficiently.
Qualifications and Skills
* Previous experience as a barista or in customer service is preferred but not essential.
* Enthusiasm for coffee, with a willingness to learn about different blends, brewing methods, and preparation techniques.
* Strong customer service skills, with the ability to engage positively with customers.
* Good communication and teamworking abilities.
* Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment whilst maintaining attention to detail.
* Friendly and approachable manner with a positive attitude.
* Understanding of health and safety regulations and hygiene practices within a café setting.

In addition, we work with Stoneleigh Abbey in Kenilworth, the astonishing features of Stoneleigh Abbey and its grounds complimented by the river Avon make the perfect venue for memorable conferences, meetings, and events of all sizes.
