Position Summary
A hands-on role for a self-motivated RF IC Design engineer who will join our New Product Engineering team working on the design of RF/Analogue circuits at our design centre in Maldon, Essex, United Kingdom. Your responsibilities include circuit design, implementation and verification of complete sub-systems for sub-6G RF ICs. You will be an expert in the field and a mentor for the more junior members of the team.
Experience in some or all of the following is required: strong understanding of basic concepts and theories in Analog and RF design, such as mismatch, linearity, stability and noise. The design of RF front-end, PA, LNA, Mixer, OSC, PLL, VGA, Filter, TIA, or other baseband modules in BiCMOS and/or RF-CMOS processes. Being a team leader and a design authority on complete design and verification projects.
Collaborating with the test team across multi sites, you will also contribute to the development of the test plan and ASIC characterization.
The person appointed to the role will report to the Head of Silicon Engineering.
Essential Functions / Key Focus Areas:
* Designing blocks such as LNAs, Mixers, filters, high speed multiplexer, divider circuits, bias circuits, bandgap, fractional N PLL, etc
* Working with a variety of technologies including SiGe & CMOS to implement innovative high performance RF circuitry
* Excellent time management and organisation skills
* Excellent people’s skills and mentoring abilities
* Produce detailed design documentation of all blocks developed
* Support product evaluation

* Willing to mentor junior engineers

Qualifications and Experience:
* Master’s degree or PhD in a closely related field; or proven industrial track record
* Over 5 years’ experience of IC design
* Expertise with Cadence Virtuoso tools and version control
* Silicon experience of SiGe Bipolar and CMOS technologies
* Successful track record of right first-time silicon
* An understanding of design for manufacture
* Working knowledge of IC layout techniques in a Cadence Virtuoso environment
* Expertise with EM tools
* Familiarisation of ESD protection techniques

Location
The position is hybrid and offices are based at our headquarters in Langford, near Maldon, Essex, and offers excellent working conditions on a 29-acre parkland site. Due to rural location, own transport is essential.
