About the Role
As the Workshop Manager for Fleet Services, you will oversee the operational management of the County Council’s fleet for Transport and Highways Operations. Your role will involve ensuring a highly efficient vehicle and plant maintenance facility that adheres to legislative requirements and service level agreements with vehicle operators within Leicestershire County Council. Your efforts will focus on delivering a cost‑effective service that effectively maintains the vehicle fleet for Leicestershire County Council.
The person we are looking for to join our team wants to continue to develop personally, is keen to participate in the development of departmental policy & promotion, and can identify & pursue opportunities for improving efficiencies in service delivery.
The nature of the work may involve the Workshop Manager carrying out work outside of normal working hours and they will be expected to make themselves available outside of normal office hours to deal with, or make the necessary arrangements for a member of the Vehicle Unit to deal with emergency situations.
About You
To apply for this post, you must be able to evidence in your application how you meet the following criteria:
* You must have demonstrable evidence of management skills & experience. It would be ideal, but not essential if you also have an appropriate professional qualification, e.g. Society of Operations Engineers or an NVQ4 or equivalent in heavy and light vehicle engineering and if you are an authorised Examiner Designated Manager for MOT station.
* You have experience of all aspects of vehicle repair and maintenance to heavy, light and passenger carrying vehicles and of the repair and maintenance of construction plant.
* You have experience of managing a team and of staff supervision and their development.
* You know about current health & safety legislation, vehicle specifications & drivers hours regulations. You have a valid class C licence & are able to provide own transport.
* You can work under pressure and meet deadlines, remain calm and positive in challenging circumstances. You are a confident decision maker within your own area of work and are able to evaluate all aspects of a problem in order to take the correct course of action. You can also use your own initiative to achieve successful results.
* You can plan, organise and prioritise your own workload to achieve targets, you have good communication skills [written & spoken]. You are able to cope with fluctuating workloads and deadlines.
* You can compile and interpret reports. You have experience of working with financial systems and processes and are skilled at preparing, monitoring & maintaining accurate data records and of collating & analysing data to develop & improve working practices; you use Microsoft Office applications.
