An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced psychologist to join the Barnet CAMHS Service for Children and Adolescents with Neurodisability (SCAN). SCAN is a multidisciplinary team providing assessment and treatment for children and young people with moderate to severe learning disabilities who are experiencing mental health difficulties, neurodevelopmental differences, and challenging behaviour. The team includes psychiatrists, psychologists, family therapists, and other allied health professionals, offering excellent opportunities for career development and leadership skills enhancement.

This full-time, fixed-term (one year) contract position is based at Holly Oak Clinic, Barnet HA8 0AD. The successful applicant will join a warm, welcoming team and will be responsible for conducting psychological, neurodevelopmental, and neuropsychological assessments, as well as delivering specialist therapeutic interventions in clinics, community settings, and schools. The post holder will manage a caseload and deliver high-quality, innovative services to young people and their families, guided by research and best practice standards.

The role emphasizes a multidisciplinary approach, aligned with the I Thrive Framework. There is a strong focus on developing clinicians’ skills through supervision, reflective practice, and ongoing CPD opportunities, including training in PBS, ADI-R, ADOS, and ADHD assessments. The postholder will receive support from senior clinical managers and psychology leads at the trust level.

Flexibility in work location may be required, including working across Barnet, Camden, Enfield, Haringey, or Islington, as needed.

Key responsibilities include:

1. Providing comprehensive, specialist assessments and interventions for children and young people referred for neurodevelopmental assessment, supporting their families.
2. Delivering evidence-based neurodevelopmental and psychological interventions, contributing to multidisciplinary assessments and treatments.
3. Liaising with and advising parents, carers, colleagues, and external agencies on psychological care.
4. Undertaking risk assessments and providing advice on risk management related to psychological factors.
