Your future role
Alstom Transport Services UK Ltd is dedicated to the successful and safe delivery of its services to its customer and to the achievement of its business plan. This post shall be pivotal in achieving this. We are searching for 3 Maintenance Technicians to provide technical expertise and support to the project undertaking exam based maintenance, unplanned and planned work, fault finding and rectification and assist the project to meet its obligations in providing the new Class 730 fleet to the customer.
You will undertake exam based maintenance, diagnose and carry out fault repairs to the Class 730 fleet in order to provide optimal performance to ensure on time delivery of units to our customer and provide improvement of fleet reliability.
We’ll look to you for:
* Ensuring work is performed in a safe and effective manner in accordance with the Health & Safety at Work Act (1974), Electricity at Work Regulations (1989), Railway Group Standards, and relevant ALSTOM Procedures.
* Undertaking exam based maintenance
* Undertaking planned and unplanned tasks
* Providing technical support to the depot teams in fault finding and train repair activities.
* Providing diagnostics and repairs on electronics and electrical systems
* Having extensive knowledge of 3 phase, single phase, and DC power systems and control systems.
* Detailed recording of faults, fault reporting, data gathering, and verbal communication
* Carrying out fault finding and investigating intermittent faults on vehicles either on depot or in service.
* Carrying out Testing & Re-Commissioning activities on vehicles and trains according to procedures.
* Assisting in component change outs, failure reporting, and supporting reliability growth teams.
* Supporting skills development within depots
* Providing on-train fault diagnosis/rectification for units in service.
* Investigating technical problems as instructed by the project support engineering team.
* Gathering data downloads on critical performance systems.
* Undertaking test runs to assist in fault finding and resolution of faults.
* Functionally testing train systems with minimal supervision using diagnostics systems.
* Reviewing and rectifying test specifications and documentation.
* Assisting in validation of documentation and technical instructions.
* Providing technical support for special checks and experiments.
* Liaising with support engineers and specialists to resolve technical issues.
* Carrying out duties in accordance with quality and safety procedures.
* Assisting in testing and repairing equipment removed from trains.
* Supporting warranty responsibilities.
* Driving company vehicles to attend depots or failed units as needed.
* Traveling to other depots and outstations as required.
* Supporting APSYS and 5S activities/housekeeping.

* Electrical NVQ Level 3 in rolling stock or aircraft
* Practical experience in mechanical, electrical, and electronic engineering of modern Electric Multiple Units
