Overview
Technical Compliance Officer (Electrical) – Shrewsbury – Contract
Salary: £24 per hour PAYE or £34.11 per hour Limited, paid via umbrella company inside IR35
Responsibilities
* Ensure compliance with electrical, safety, and related regulations and standards.
* Manage contractors and establish strong working relationships to achieve desired outcomes.
* Set challenging but achievable targets and monitor performance against them.
* Operate within Service Level Agreements and contribute to performance management.
* Apply knowledge of building services (electrical, mechanical, HVAC) installation and operation to compliance activities.
* Utilise knowledge of IET BS 7671 (Electrical Wiring Regulations) and UK building services standards in daily work.
* Utilise Microsoft Office 365 and CAFM software as part of daily duties.
* Apply CDM/H&S requirements for construction projects where applicable.
* Work with budget control processes related to the role.
Qualifications and Experience
* Degree in Electrical Engineering or related field, or demonstrable relevant experience.
* City & Guilds 2391, 2382, or equivalent, or other relevant qualifications.
* Relevant H&S qualification.
* At least 5 years of experience in compliance management or a similar role.
* In-depth knowledge of compliance safety regulations and standards.
* Working knowledge of building services systems (electrical, mechanical services, HVAC, etc.) and operation.
* An in-depth understanding of Health & Safety.
* Knowledge of relevant legislation and ability to anticipate and plan for future changes in legislation.
* Experience of target setting and performance measurement in the role area.
* Proven record of setting targets for themselves and a team while achieving results.
* Experience of managing contractors and building relationships to achieve outcomes.
* Previous experience in local government is desirable.
* Knowledge of performance management and experience working within Service Level Agreements.
* Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
* Experience of a maintenance environment.
* Proficiency in AutoCAD and CAFM software; working knowledge of IT tools including Microsoft Office 365.
* Knowledge of passenger lift systems, heating and heating control systems, emergency lighting and fire alarm systems.
* Knowledge of budget control systems.
