Overview
We are looking for a motivated and enthusiastic person to work in our team of Geomatics Analysts. You will be working as part of a small team processing survey data to support the delivery of our National Elevation Data Programmes, using specialist software and GIS to process and quality control data from our state-of-the-art Remote Sensing survey instrumentation including our Airborne LIDAR Terrain Mapper.
Responsibilities
* Process and quality control survey data to support the delivery of National Elevation Data Programmes.
* Work with specialist software and GIS (ESRI products) to handle large and complex mapping datasets, preferably including Airborne LiDAR.
* Apply Remote Sensing techniques and analytical skills to produce high-quality GIS outputs.
* Communicate findings effectively to internal and external customers, with attention to detail and ability to work unsupervised to meet deadlines.
* Assist with data management and contribute to incident response duties as required by the role.
Experience and Qualifications
* A relevant degree level qualification in Geography, GIS, Environment or another relevant scientific discipline, or equivalent experience with an understanding of operational applications.
* Practical experience and broad-ranging GIS skills using ESRI products such as ArcGIS Pro or ArcMap; experience working with large and complex mapping datasets, preferably Airborne LiDAR.
* Experience of processing and quality control procedures on LiDAR datasets and LiDAR-derived Digital Elevation Models is advantageous.
* Experience in Remote Sensing techniques, analytical and problem-solving skills, and good attention to detail.
* Good organisational skills and the ability to communicate effectively and work unsupervised at times to meet challenging deadlines.
Additional Information
* The National Monitoring Survey team is a national team located at various sites around the country; you can be based anywhere within working proximity to an EA office.
* Travel to the Geomatics team hub base in Bath may be required; attendance at EA offices may be needed to support team needs. The post is full-time, with flexible working patterns considered.
* Interviews will be in-person at the Bath office and will include a technical GIS assessment and capability questions.
