The Integrated Procedures Unit (IPU) has an exciting opportunity for a motivated and conscientious receptionist to join our admin team.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Provide a high quality, comprehensive administrative service to the IPU staff, ensuring effective administrative and communication systems are in place to support efficient service delivery.
2. Welcome patients and visitors to the Unit.
3. Handle general enquiries from patients, relatives, hospital staff, and outside agencies, taking appropriate action where required.
4. Arrange transport for patients as needed.
5. Provide comprehensive advice to patients regarding appointments.
6. Answer queries promptly and courteously, taking appropriate actions according to the mode of enquiry or the information required.
7. Book surgical clinic appointments.
8. Record patient attendance on Careflow, CRIS, or Theatreman systems accurately and promptly.
9. Prepare patient admissions lists and theatre lists.
10. Scan and file relevant documentation into case notes after discharge.
11. Update hospital case notes tracking systems, ensuring the location of case notes is accurately recorded at all times.
12. Work as part of the multidisciplinary team on IPU, promoting effective communication.
13. Maintain cleanliness in the work environment in line with Trust and local health and safety policies.
14. Regularly review working practices and develop new ways of working.
15. Identify areas for self-development and training within the Performance Planning and Development Review structure.

The IPU is a nurse-led, fast-paced, dynamic service comprising a procedure team, interventional radiology, ultrasound, surgical dressings, outpatient clinics, day surgery admissions, operating theatre, and recovery bays. You will join this complex multidisciplinary team with a comprehensive induction.
This role is for 20 hours, worked over 3 days. The IPU admin team covers from 07:00 to 17:00, Monday to Friday. The unit is closed on weekends and Bank Holidays. This is an excellent opportunity for part-time work with a good work-life balance in a fast-paced environment.
