We are currently seeking Out of Hours drivers, Based at the Town & County Hospital Wick, Supporting Caithness General Hospital and Dunbar Hospital
To transport Doctors engaged to NHS Highland Out of Hours duties in a dedicated vehicle between allocated calls and to note all details passed by staff at the Highland Hub in Caithness General Hospital Wick, in relation to calls.
Provide security back up for Doctors and vehicles and provide assistance at the request of and in accordance with the instructions of the Duty Doctor. Also to provide driving duties to NHS Highland in a positive manner demonstrating effectiveness and efficiency to service users at all times.
The out of hour’s service provides a comprehensive quality service to all areas of the hospital, community and public, which operates 7 days a week.
To be aware of and comply with the NHS Highland Health and Safety Policy, to ensure safe working practices.
To be involved in hospital emergency procedures including major incidents cardiac arrest and fire procedures.
To be involved identification and movement of medical gases and the maintenance of medical gas banks ensuring adherence to regulations.
Out of hours drivers will be expected to react quickly in difficult circumstances and take appropriate action such as informing Doctors of urgent message reporting incidents to the police, summoning assistance in liaison with the on-call GP.
These are 28.7 hour per week posts, worked in accordance with service requirements.
