Job Introduction

At SCS Railways, we're delivering one of the most transformative rail projects in the UK - and our IT team is at the heart of making it happen. We manage cloud-based and on-site services for over 2,000 users, ensuring seamless collaboration, secure data management, and cutting-edge digital solutions across our business.

We're now looking for a Solutions Architect (Information Management) - a technically skilled, forward-thinking professional who will play a leading role in developing and enhancing our information management systems. If you're passionate about modern cloud technologies, integration architecture, and building scalable, high-performance solutions, this is your opportunity to make a lasting impact.

Working arrangements

This role will be based in the office for a minimum of 3 days per week.

Role Responsibility

In this key role, you'll take the lead in designing and delivering robust, scalable, and secure solutions across our digital ecosystem. You'll:

* Lead the design, build, and implementation of integration solutions aligned with enterprise architecture principles.
* Partner with internal teams, architects, and third-party vendors to deliver seamless integrations across cloud and on-premise environments.
* Serve as the go-to expert for integration technologies, driving best practice and technical excellence.
* Resolve production incidents swiftly while proactively improving performance and reliability.
* Maintain integration artefacts, design documentation, and architecture guidelines.
* Ensure compliance with IT security standards and governance frameworks.

This is a hands‑on architecture role - you'll combine strategic design with real‑world technical execution, ensuring every solution supports business goals and scales for the future.

The Ideal Candidate

You're a collaborative and analytical problem-solver with a passion for technology and innovation. You'll have:

* Proven experience delivering enterprise-level Azure, SQL, and SaaS implementations.
* Hands‑on expertise in Azure Cloud Services, Python, Databricks, ETLs, REST/SOAP APIs, and CI/CD pipelines.
* Strong understanding of integration design patterns, data warehousing, and cloud‑native architecture.
* Experience producing High‑Level and Low‑Level Design documents.
* A solid grasp of security best practice, identity management, and authentication protocols (OAuth2, SAML).
* Excellent communication and leadership skills - capable of influencing technical direction and mentoring others.

You’ll thrive in a fast‑paced environment where innovation meets discipline, and where every solution you design supports a project of national importance.

About the Company

The role will work on the HS2 project. HS2 is the UK's new high speed rail network. It will be a catalyst for economic growth across Britain, freeing up space on the existing railways and connecting 8 out of the UK's 10 biggest cities with fast, reliable and frequent high speed services.

The Skanska | Costain | STRABAG (SCS JV) is delivering the HS2 London Tunnels Contract. Scope of works includes twin‑bored tunnels (TBM), SCL tunnels, shaft sinking, bridge demolition and reconstruction, services diversions, earthworks and the construction of site compounds.

You’ll be a welcomed member of the wider team, with opportunities to take on additional responsibility, join our EDI Champions program or support the local community (e.g. as a STEM ambassador).

Your personal and professional development is important to us. We welcome a discussion about how we can support you with further study, or professional membership or attainment for example.

HS2 - working with Skanska, Costain and STRABAG, closely monitors job applications, to ensure an inclusive recruitment process. To ensure we are able to maintain this, and to recruit a diverse workforce, we require candidates to complete the diversity form as part of their application so we are able to monitor and improve our approach to diversity. Please note, all responses are anonymous and we will not share any of your data with other parties. All data will be held securely, (as stated within the Data Protection Act 2018 and UK GDPR) and will be reported to HS2.
