The primary purpose of this position is to perform inspections on a variety of complicated structures involving difficult and complex operations and maintenance activities which include sophisticated mechanical, electrical, or hydraulic systems and equipment. You will be responsible for performing inspection and surveillance of construction projects as well as other duties related to inspection of equipment and materials. You will perform duties as a technical consultant to the Operations Flight Director, DIO and Engineering Flight, conducting inventory and condition assessments for all sewer, water, and mechanical infrastructure systems and will gather information to compile into written inspection reports. In addition, you will comply with health, safety, and environmental rules and procedures, and perform work in a manner that enhances the safety of the work environment. Qualifications and Key skills One-year of specialized experience in a similar role (i.e. Engineering Aid or Technician, Surveying Technician, Construction Inspector, Construction Representative or Supervisor of crafts-persons, equipment operators, or mechanics engaged in construction work, OR, College level education minimum Level 3 (i.e. BTEC, City and Guilds, NVQ or HNC/HND that included at least 24 semester hours) together with specialized experience as per the required key skills indicated below: 1. Knowledge of construction inspection practices and procedures involved in the inspection of building materials, workmanship, utilities, and the installation of systems; and the practical methods and techniques of engineering principles relating to complex construction practices and procedures. 2. Knowledge of electrical, mechanical, and structural aspects of major construction projects. 3. Knowledge of inspection and safety practices and procedures in the construction industry. 4. Knowledge of engineering and architectural plans and specifications to read and interpret construction requirements. 5. Knowledge of construction trades, algebra, geometry, and trigonometry. 6. Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing. Must hold a valid UK driver's license (Category B) for the position. Anglian Water Certification, higher pressure jetting, sewage plant working, unvented hot water, and Gas Certification are desirable. Conditions of employment 1. You will be responsible for handling sensitive information in compliance with US and UK laws, and this position may be considered mission essential. 2. The role requires flexibility, as start and end times may change, overtime may be necessary, and you may be assigned tasks outside of this job description. 3. Travel, both domestically and internationally via military or civilian aircraft, may be required for official duties or training. 4. A probationary period of 6 months must be completed. 5. You must have strong written and oral communication skills and be proficient in using communication devices such as two-way radios or mobile phones. 6. Continuous learning is expected, as you'll need to stay current with numerous regulations, work codes, and software packages through ongoing training. 7. You must adhere to safety protocols, including wearing personal protective equipment and undergoing required immunizations for certain tasks.
