Specialist Community Public Health Nurse - School Nurse

Main Duties of the Job
As a school nurse within our dedicated 5‑19 years team, you will lead the provision of high‑quality care. Key responsibilities include operational and strategic management of a defined caseload, and working in partnership with other key agencies and the multidisciplinary team.
* Contribute to the development of School Nursing within a Public Health 0‑19 Family Health Service.
* Lead a newly formed district wide School Nursing team, supporting junior colleagues and ensuring high‑quality service delivery.
* Manage your own School Nursing caseload, acting as a role model to others.

Person Specification
Essential
* Registered Nurse 1st level or Registered Midwife School Nurse qualification – Certificate/Diploma/Specialist Community Public Health Practitioner (School Nursing) Degree.
* Current NMC Registration.
* Experience of safeguarding children, Signs of Safety, interagency working, research awareness, diverse populations, and school age children.
* Knowledge of Health Needs assessment, school profiling, policy frameworks, change management, and clinical supervision.
* Commitment to equality, diversity, and teamwork.
* Evidence of ongoing clinical and professional updating.
Desirable
* Teaching and assessing in clinical practice qualification.
* Practice Assessor and counselling skills qualification.
* Family planning or child and adolescent mental health qualification.
* Registered Nurse (Child Branch) or RSCN.
* Line management experience.
* Immunisation experience.
* Previous School Nursing experience.
* Tier 1 mental health assessment/intervention experience.
