A client within the Public Sector based in Greater Manchester is currently recruiting for a Building Surveyor (Minor Works Team) to join their Capital Programmes & Procurement Service as soon as possible. The client is offering a full time, temporary position on an ongoing basis with the ideal candidate having experience of working within a local authority within a capital programmes or corporate property environment.
The Role
Key purpose of the role:
The Building Surveyor will be based within the Minor Works Team, delivering projects ranging from £2k to £4m in value. The team provides a multi-disciplinary service including Building Surveying, Mechanical & Electrical design, Structural design, Cost & Contract Management, Fire Risk Assessment, Principal Designer services and CDM compliance.
Key responsibilities will include but not be limited to:
• Delivering, managing and administering construction contracts from inception to completion
• Analysing building defects and preparing detailed specifications and schedules of work
• Preparing feasibility studies, project briefs and cost estimates
• Producing and reviewing technical drawings, including AutoCAD designs
• Ensuring compliance with Building Regulations, Planning legislation and CDM Regulations
The Candidate
To be considered for this role you will require:
• BSc in Building Surveying or a similar RICS-accredited Bachelor’s degree
• Experience working within a local authority or public sector capital delivery environment
• Demonstrable experience delivering construction and refurbishment projects from commencement to completion
The below skills would be beneficial for the role:
• Strong knowledge of building defects analysis and specification writing
• Proficiency in AutoCAD
• Good working knowledge of Building & Planning legislation and CDM Regulations
• Experience administering JCT, PSPC and NEC3/4 TSC and ECC contracts
• Strong project management and budget control skills
• Ability to communicate complex technical information clearly to a range of stakeholders
The client is looking to move quickly with this role and as such are offering £40 per hour Umbrella LTD Inside IR35 (approx. £32 per hour PAYE).
