Overview

Shape the Future of Education and Professional Practice

Are you ready to take ownership of impactful portfolios that drive change in education and professional development? At McGraw Hill, we empower learners and educators worldwide, and as an Associate Commissioning Editor, you'll play a key role in shaping the Coaching and Counselling & Psychotherapy (C&P) portfolios within the renowned Open University Press imprint.

This is a unique opportunity to manage, grow and develop two respected title lists that influence academic thought, teaching and professional practice. Combining editorial development and commissioning responsibilities you'll collaborate with leading authors and cross-functional teams to deliver high-impact, innovative, market-driven solutions that make a difference.

How can you make an impact:

* Develop Profitable Products: Source and develop profitable products, from new first editions and revisions to digital products by analysing market trends and customer needs. Design and launch innovative programs in collaboration with go-to-market teams to deliver engaging, revenue-driven solutions.
* Collaborate Across Teams: Work with Commissioning Editors, the Head of Publishing, Marketing, Production, vendors, and authors to oversee projects from development to post-publication. Support editorial and administrative tasks to drive portfolio strategy and organizational goals.
* Support Editorial Development: Assist with frontlist title development, including tracking contracts, coordinating reviews, preparing manuscripts, and managing pipeline projects alongside your own portfolio responsibilities.
* Portfolio Management: Full responsibility for portfolio performance, budget, and profitability. Build business cases, commission new titles, recruit authors, and lead digital transformation to deliver innovative, customer-focused solutions.
* List Administration: Maintain reviewer logs, track projects, coordinate author meetings, and oversee proposal evaluation and manuscript clearance. Handle financial signoffs, contract management, and payment processing for contributors and vendors.
* Champion the Portfolio: Promote Coaching and C&P portfolios through training, workshops, and product launches. Engage with customers to gather insights, inform sales strategies, and design marketing campaigns that drive visibility and growth.
* Data-Driven Strategy: With support from the Head of Product, develop portfolio roadmaps with clear priorities using customer insights and commercial data to guide decisions. Track performance, analyse digital usage, and align product releases with market opportunities and promotional efforts.

What you'll need to be successful:

* Manage Coaching and C&P portfolios to meet revenue targets, including driving digital growth and commissioning 9-12 new projects annually, contributing to growth targets.
* Drive digital adoption in assigned portfolios to establish renewable and scalable revenue streams, contributing to an 8% year-on-year growth in digital revenue share
* Oversee 15-35 project titles each year with strong editorial support.
* University degree or equivalent educational qualification; postgraduate qualifications desirable with product management experience in learning science, publishing, or education sectors at an associate/junior level or equivalent
* Possess strong market research, analytical, financial, and project management skills.
* Demonstrate excellent communication, organization, and ability to work under pressure.
* Show initiative and a proactive approach as experience grows.
* Have some knowledge of social media and a willingness to learn new software and related processes.
* Ability to work under pressure and meet strict deadlines, requiring excellent organizational skills and well-maintained tracking tools
* Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to analyse, compile, and share information effectively while maintaining professionalism with external customers
* Be familiar with business tools (CRM, SFDC), Microsoft Office, digital/cloud platforms, and research/analysis databases
* Proficiency in Microsoft Suite Applications such as Word, Excel and Outlook.
* Exposure to and/or knowledge of analysis tools, research metrics, reading list, book data, and citation database platforms such as Neilsen, Textbookweb, Scopus, SciVal etc.
* Exposure to/knowledge of digital/cloud platforms for content management and authoring
