Shift Electrician - Manufacturing Plant (Leicester)
We are seeking experienced Shift Electricians to join a high-speed, 24/7 food manufacturing facility in Leicester. This is an excellent opportunity for a skilled electrical maintenance professional with experience in fast-moving manufacturing environments who is looking for a long-term career within a safety-focused and dynamic team.
Role Overview
As a Shift Electrician, you will be responsible for providing both reactive and planned electrical maintenance across production lines and site services. You will play a key role in ensuring equipment reliability, maintaining safety standards, and supporting continuous improvement initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
1. Respond quickly and effectively to breakdowns to minimise production downtime
2. Diagnose faults using structured fault-finding techniques
3. Carry out Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM) activities
4. Maintain accurate and detailed maintenance records
5. Conduct quality checks and inspections to company standards
6. Support and promote health and safety best practices across the site
7. Ensure adherence to safe systems of work, including Lock Out/Tag Out procedures
8. Maintain high standards of housekeeping and workplace organisation
9. Consistently wear and use appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE)
Candidate Requirements
Essential:
10. Completed Electrical Apprenticeship (NVQ Level 3 / City & Guilds or equivalent)
11. Proven experience in a high-speed FMCG or manufacturing environment
12. Strong fault-finding and diagnostic skills
13. Experience with 3-phase systems, drives, and controls
14. Working knowledge of PLCs and ladder logic
15. BS7671 18th Edition qualification
16. Understanding of Electricity at Work Regulations and safe working practices
Desirable:
17. HNC (or equivalent) in Electrical Engineering
18. Experience with Allen Bradley / Rockwell PLC systems
19. BS2391 Inspection and Testing qualification
20. Level 3 qualification in Electrical Installations
21. AutoCAD experience for electrical and mechanical drawings
22. Previous project involvement
Shift Pattern
23. Continental shift rotation:
24. 2 × 12-hour day shifts
25. 2 × 12-hour night shifts
26. 4 days off
27. Average 37.5 hours per week
28. Extended breaks built into the rota (including periodic 14-day breaks)
29. Overtime available (subject to approval)
