Snowfox Discovery is a global natural hydrogen exploration company, aiming to accelerate the energy transition by establishing natural hydrogen as a low-cost, low-carbon energy source. We utilize advanced geoscience and data analytics to explore for natural hydrogen. We are seeking a highly skilled Geophysical Applications Specialist to join our team.
Job Summary:
The Geophysical Application Specialist will provide technical expertise in on-shore geophysical data acquisition, processing, interpretation, and technology application. This role involves identifying and characterizing subsurface formations suitable for natural hydrogen generation, migration, and accumulation. Experience with seismic and potential field data, especially at the play to prospect scale, is essential. Experience in on-shore regional evaluations is a strong advantage. This role will support our exploration and development strategies by integrating geophysical methods with our existing capabilities.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Apply seismic and non-seismic geophysical techniques to evaluate subsurface formations for hydrogen.
2. Design passive and active source geophysical surveys (2D/3D seismic, EM, gravity, MT, Acoustic Noise Tomography) for regional and prospect-scale evaluations.
3. Perform seismic interpretation, attribute analysis, inversion, and geophysical risk assessment related to hydrogen systems.
4. Integrate geophysical, geological, and geochemical datasets to support subsurface modeling.
5. Utilize interpretation tools such as Petrel and MOVE.
6. Prepare and present technical reports and presentations internally and to partners.
Qualifications and Experience:
1. Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Geophysics, Geoscience, or related Earth Science field.
2. At least 5 years of geophysical experience in resource exploration (oil & gas, mining, geothermal, CCS, or hydrogen preferred).
3. Expertise in various geophysical and potential field techniques.
4. Knowledge of near-surface geophysics, passive seismic, or geoelectrical methods is advantageous.
5. Familiarity with subsurface imaging workflows and data integration.
6. Strong skills in geophysical software and interpretation tools.
7. Ability to work across multidisciplinary teams.
8. Knowledge of rock physics, petrophysical analysis, or fluid substitution modeling related to hydrogen-bearing rocks.
9. Analytical mindset with experience working on exploratory projects with limited data.
