Working for our organisation

Sheffield Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust manages the five NHS adult hospitals in Sheffield: the Northern General, Royal Hallamshire, Jessop Wing Maternity Unit, Weston Park Cancer Centre, and Charles Clifford Dental Services.

We are also responsible for delivering Adult Community Services across Sheffield, providing a broad range of healthcare such as nursing, physiotherapy, sexual health, intermediate care, and podiatry which enables adults in Sheffield to be supported and treated in or near to their own home.

Every year we provide more than two million patient episodes across Sheffield, delivering a broad range of healthcare such as maternity services, care of the elderly and A&E (major trauma centre).

The majority of our patients are from Sheffield and the surrounding areas but around five per cent of patients are from other parts of the country, who come for specialist treatments offered in only a few NHS hospitals in the UK.

Almost 19,000 people work at the Trust in more than 70 professions, making us the second largest employer in Sheffield.

We also work very closely with The University of Sheffield and Sheffield Hallam University to ensure we are at the cutting edge of medical research, development, and education. This helps us develop new and specialist services for the benefit of patients from Sheffield and all over the country.
