Job summary

An exciting and unique opportunity has arisen for a dynamic Band 3 Healthcare Support Worker to hold a dual role within Adult Community Mental Health Teams across Swansea Bay.

The post involves delivering Physical Health Monitoring clinics across Swansea Bay Adult Community Mental Health Teams, ensuring high standards of physical health monitoring in line with NICE and local prescribing guidelines such as ADHD and antipsychotic monitoring.

Main duties include working within a designated team comprising a registered nurse and other healthcare support workers. Responsibilities involve undertaking blood pressure monitoring, measuring height, weight, phlebotomy, and providing health promotion advice. Phlebotomy training will be provided if not already qualified. The role also includes administrative tasks, requiring basic IT skills.

Another aspect of the role supports a Community Mental Health Team in Neath Port Talbot, assisting with care coordination under Part 2 of the Mental Health Measure. This involves delegated tasks and community visits to support individuals in achieving their goals.

The role operates Monday-Friday, 9am-5pm, with weekends and bank holidays off. Travel between sites and to patients' homes across five Community Mental Health Teams is essential.

Person Specification


Qualifications and Knowledge (Essential)

* QCF Level 3 qualification (formerly NVQ Level 3)
* Commitment to personal development and understanding of the role within the nursing team
* Experience in a specialist care setting and knowledge of the Code of Conduct for Healthcare Support Workers in Wales
* Understanding of fundamental care principles and health promotion
* Knowledge of safeguarding adults/children principles


Qualifications and Knowledge (Desirable)

* Participation in relevant courses/study days
* Understanding of care for conditions like dementia, mental illness, learning disabilities


Experience (Essential)

* Significant experience as a Healthcare Assistant in relevant patient groups
