Are you an Infrastructure Lead capable of managing our Technology Infrastructure and meeting business needs efficiently? As our Head of Infrastructure, you will lead a highly technical team of engineers and oversee all Technology infrastructure for the British Heart Foundation (BHF), including 8 offices across the UK, approximately 700 shops and stores, and around 4,000 staff. Your role will involve ensuring our Technology infrastructure is well-managed, monitored, and supported, working closely with colleagues across the organization to maintain sufficient availability and capacity of all infrastructure components. Collaboration with the InfoSec team will be vital to understand the threat landscape and implement controls to safeguard information assets, ensuring all components are designed and managed with a 'secure by design' approach.
Working arrangements This position offers a blended working model, combining remote work and time in our London office. Employees on blended contracts are expected to spend at least one day per week in the office, with flexibility to adapt based on role requirements and activities.
About you You will have significant experience in a technical leadership role, with hands-on expertise to communicate effectively at a technical level with stakeholders. You should be an expert in Technology Infrastructure, with a comprehensive understanding of IT architecture and infrastructure in organizations of similar size. Leadership skills and experience managing high-performing teams are essential. A passion for new technology, strong commercial awareness, and experience managing budgets are also important. Your technical knowledge should include:
• Cloud and hybrid environments (Azure, M365, VMware)
• WAN, LAN, IP, Firewall, VPN, Wireless
• Fixed & mobile IP telephony and unified communications
• Datacentre management, server virtualization
• SharePoint, SQL Server, Windows Server, Office Suite, Exchange
• Application systems (Fundraising, Retail, Grants Management)
You should possess an authoritative personality, capable of building strong relationships with senior internal stakeholders and external partners. Customer focus, change management skills, and the ability to drive innovation and challenge the status quo are key attributes.
