The Cwm Taf Morgannwg University Health Board’s Clinical Engineering Department delivers medical equipment management services throughout the Health Board.

The department provides a broad range of complex, routine, and non-routine activities including planned preventive maintenance, repair, calibration, safety testing, quality assurance, evaluation, commissioning, and decommissioning of medical equipment.

We currently have a vacancy for a Band 5 Healthcare Science Practitioner / Clinical Technologist. The successful candidate will become part of a team, specialized in servicing, maintaining, and managing a range of medical equipment based at Prince Charles Hospital, although the post-holder will be expected to carry out duties across the Health Board as necessary.

The post holder will provide a medical technical service that includes acceptance, testing, repair, calibration, and preventative maintenance of electrical, electronic, electro-medical, mechano-medical, and medical gas equipment, mainly at Prince Charles Hospital and surrounding areas.

Occasionally, there may be a requirement to travel to other sites within the UHB to assist with workload, schedules, or for training purposes.

You will use various health board software packages in the course of your duties, such as recording jobs for medical equipment and managing stock/parts ordering and distribution.

Specific training on various medical devices will be provided. Computer literacy, along with excellent team working and communication skills, is essential.
