For consultants with subspecialty in Anaesthetics, the job plan includes approximately 3 weeks of an average of 6 theatre sessions per week, which include various specialties including general surgery, trauma, orthopaedics, ENT, maxillofacial surgery, urology, and plastic surgery.

The appointee is expected to offer some flexibility in these sessions, although the theatre rota will generally be produced up to 4 weeks in advance, and it is normal practice to allocate appointees regular lists to allow for the development of team building, specific skill sets relating to areas of interest and ongoing working relationships.
