Salary: Lecturer (Grade 8: £38,784 – £46,049) or Senior Lecturer (Grade 9: £44,746 – £56,535), dependent upon experience, pro rata for part-time appointment.
Vacancy Type: Permanent, part-time (up to 17.5 hours per week – 0.4 or 0.5 FTE). Flexible working options considered.
About the role
The University is seeking experienced Commercial and Rural Surveyors to join our Land & Property team. This opportunity offers the chance to shape the next generation of land management professionals. The University offers a range of undergraduate and postgraduate programmes in Land & Property, including the RICS accredited BSc (Hons) Rural Land Management, BSc (Hons) Real Estate, MSc Rural Estate Management, and MSc Real Estate programmes. We seek professional and passionate individuals with highly relevant subject expertise gained through professional practice in the UK to teach on our Rural Land Management and Real Estate programmes at the Cirencester Campus. Bridging the gap between industry and academia is essential for our students, ensuring they are well-prepared for their future careers.
We are specifically seeking applicants with valuation & compulsory purchase skills, and those with commercial / real estate experience obtained through professional practice in the UK. Due to our taught programmes being RICS accredited, applicants must be a Chartered Surveyor with MRICS, FRICS, or AssocRICS, or must meet the necessary criteria to become a member of RICS, enabling teaching to be practice-led and enriched with real-world examples.
For a part-time role, we encourage applications from individuals who are currently working as Chartered Surveyors or are returning from a career break, or have recently retired and wish to share their knowledge with the next generation of professionals.
Responsibilities
* Teach on Rural Land Management and Real Estate programmes, ensuring alignment with industry practices and RICS accreditation requirements.
* Contribute to bridging the gap between industry and academia and provide real-world case studies.
* Engage with professional practice to support curriculum development and student employability.
Qualifications
* Chartered Surveyor (MRICS, FRICS, or AssocRICS) or eligible to become a member of RICS.
* Relevant professional practice in the UK with valuation, compulsory purchase, and commercial/real estate experience.
