Overview
Accounts Portfolio Manager – a senior role at Streets (formerly Streets Whittles). Based in Exeter, England, United Kingdom. This position leads the delivery of accounting and advisory services for a broad portfolio of clients and acts as the main point of contact to ensure high-quality outputs and client service.
Responsibilities
* Manage a portfolio primarily consisting of SMEs, partnerships, and sole traders; act as the main point of contact for clients and ensure their needs are met. Build and maintain strong, long-term client relationships founded on trust and excellent service.
* Financial Reporting And Compliance: Prepare and review financial statements, annual accounts, tax returns, and periodic management reports. Ensure accuracy, compliance with UK GAAP/IFRS and UK tax regulations, and that reporting deadlines are met.
* Strategic Advisory: Provide strategic financial insights to help clients grow their businesses and improve financial performance. Advise on tax planning, cash flow management, and business planning opportunities tailored to each client.
* Client Relationship Management: Serve as a trusted adviser, handle day-to-day queries, conduct client meetings, present findings from reports, and maintain client satisfaction.
* Team Leadership And Mentoring: Supervise and mentor junior accountants and trainees; review their work, provide guidance and training, and foster professional development.
* Quality Control And Compliance: Ensure the quality of work produced by the team, implement review processes, and stay up to date with UK GAAP/IFRS and tax legislation to ensure compliant services.
* Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities to improve internal processes and enhance the client service experience; contribute to firm-wide initiatives and staff development.
About You
The ideal candidate is a qualified accountant with strong technical knowledge and excellent people skills. Key qualifications and attributes include:
* ACA or ACCA Qualified: Full membership status (or equivalent) in ACA or ACCA.
* Practice and Managerial Experience: Experience in an accountancy practice with a track record of managing a diverse client portfolio and supervisory experience (Accounts Manager or Client Manager).
* Technical skills: Strong knowledge of UK accounting standards (UK GAAP and/or IFRS) and tax compliance; up-to-date with regulatory changes.
* Software proficiency: Proficient in Xero, QuickBooks, and Sage; familiarity with other cloud accounting and tax software is a plus.
* Leadership and mentoring: Ability to lead, delegate, mentor junior team members, and provide constructive feedback.
* Client-focused communication: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; ability to explain complex financial information clearly and build trusted adviser relationships.
* Analytical and organised: Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organisational abilities; able to manage deadlines and priorities across a portfolio.
* Business acumen: Commercial awareness with the ability to spot value-adding opportunities for clients and the firm.
