Duty Manager – 3-Star Hotel (Ullapool, Scotland) Position Type: Full-time Shift Pattern: Split shifts, including mornings, evenings, weekends, and public holidays Reports to: General Manager / Deputy Manager Role Overview As Duty Manager, you will oversee the day-to-day operations of the hotel during your shifts, ensuring exceptional guest service and smooth coordination across departments. This role requires flexibility and commitment to a split-shift schedule, typical in small hospitality teams. Key Responsibilities Guest Services Act as the main point of contact for guests during your shift. Handle complaints and resolve issues promptly and professionally. Ensure a welcoming and helpful atmosphere throughout the hotel. Operational Oversight Supervise front office, housekeeping, and food & beverage operations. Ensure smooth handovers between split shifts. Monitor service standards and address any shortfalls. Staff Coordination Support and guide team members during shifts. Assist with training and onboarding of new staff. Maintain morale and teamwork across departments. Health, Safety & Security Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations. Respond to emergencies and incidents as per hotel procedures. Secure hotel premises and assets during your shift. Administrative Duties Complete shift reports and communicate key updates to management. Assist with stock control and basic financial tasks (e.g., cashing up). Attend briefings and contribute to operational planning. Requirements Previous experience in hotel operations or hospitality management. Strong leadership and communication skills. Ability to work split shifts and adapt to changing schedules. Calm under pressure with excellent problem-solving abilities. Knowledge of hotel systems (PMS, POS) is an advantage.
